We had another "official" ultrasound on the 8th, and the technician confirmed that the baby is indeed a boy. Unfortunately, when we went in for our appointment today, the doctor told us there are multiple cysts in the baby's kidney. They don't think that his left kidney is functioning at all, but his right kidney is clear of cysts. The doctor said it might not affect his quality of life, but they are going to have to do another ultrasound in a month or so, and then after that they will keep a close eye on the amniotic fluid level to make sure he is doing well. It was a little disheartening to hear that our baby isn't as healthy as he could be, but we are still hopeful that all will be well in the end. Your prayers are welcome and appreciated!
