Pregnant tummy at about 31 weeks!

I thought black was supposed to be slimming...

Well, I heard back about the results of the ultrasound. Nothing to worry too much about, despite what it may seem. The baby does indeed only have one working kidney, which is what we thought before. His right kidney appears to be working just fine, plenty of amniotic fluid and there was urine in his bladder, but his left kidney is not working and has cysts throughout. The doctor I talked to said there is nothing to be done right now, but after he is born he will need an ultrasound on his kidneys, and then he'll need to see a pediatric nephrologist (a special kidney doctor).

I will get another ultrasound at the beginning of next month and they'll check his abdominal circumference, the amniotic fluid level, and of course, his kidneys again. So as long as I continue to feel regular movement and he appears to be growing, everything is fine. The doctor said before we have more children, we might see a genetic counselor to find out if this condition might carry on to more children. But we're thinking after we see the specialist, he should be able to tell us whether the condition is genetic or not. His diagnosis right now is "multicystic dysplastic kidney," if anyone wants to know specifics.
