Little Gym in NY

Since Jack took some Little Gym classes in Oregon, we decided to sign him up again here! There happen to be a couple of locations near us, so we started mid-semester and Jack just loves going there! Here are Daddy and Jack going under the big parachute during circle time!

At home, Jack talk about going to Little Gym a lot. He says, "Kick, kick!" and, "Pop, pop!" referring to the balls and bubbles he gets to play with there. He has his usual serious expression on his face for most of the class, but we know he's secretly having fun.

Here he is practicing his rolling across the "hot dogs," as the teacher calls them. He is just learning the basics of gymnastics, like rolling and hanging on the bars. He's doing very well with somersaults all by himself.

Speaking of bars, here he is practicing with Daddy for the Olympics! We have high hopes for him.

One of the skills we worked on this week was walking on the balance beam, then doing a forward roll. He does very well at tucking his head and getting his hands down.

And now for his favorite part! The balls and bubbles! He knows just where the balls are stored and when the teachers sings the song about balls, he likes to go to the door to be first in line!

And he loves to chase the bubbles around the room, going "Pop! Pop!" These are special bubbles that don't pop easily and seem to stick around forever. I wouldn't want them in my house, personally, so I'm glad he gets to play with them here where other people can clean them up!

He discovered two bubbles stuck to Daddy's knee. He tried to very carefully pick them up with his fingers, but they popped. Oh well!

I envy that you have so many fun places to take kids in NY... There is nothing out here, unless I want to take Hudson out to shoot gophers...

Sigh... I love Havre, but I miss so much of the city...
