Belated Celebration

Now that Dad is back in town, we finally got around to celebrating Jack's birthday. He requested Chuck E. Cheese's and a chocolate cake. We were happy to comply!

After Chuck E. Cheese, we went home for nap time, then presents and cake. We asked Jack what he wanted for his special birthday dinner, and he requested hot dogs. We then tried to convince him to pick something more "fun," like McDonald's or even chocolate chip pancakes, but he was stuck on hot dogs.

We found a fun train set on craigslist. Both kids were quite excited to see it! We also got him a stethoscope that actually works. He has two toy stethoscopes, but they don't allow him to hear an actual heart beat. He thought it was cool to hear the difference between Dad's slower heartbeat, and little Ryan's speedy heartbeat.

Jack has been requesting a chef's hat for quite a while, so we found a cute Melissa & Doug outfit for him. Plus some binoculars so he can explore!

Grandma and Grandpa Marshall sent some super cool trains to add to his train set. Jack says, "Thank you!"

Jack loves to use scissors, so we got him a craft kit with a lot of projects that require cutting. He made a paper chain right away.

Ryan was there to wish Jack a "Happy Birthday!"

Jack made a wish for a fire truck as he blew out his candles. I guess we know what to get him for Christmas!

It's hard to believe Jack is four years old already. He is a very sweet, intelligent little boy. Jack loves to read and is continuing to make great strides. He is picking up new words every day and learning new grammar and spelling rules. The English language is a bit confusing, admittedly!

Jack loves to ask questions about everything. He often asks, "What happens if..." For example, we'll say, "Hurry Jack, let's go to the store." And he'll ask, "What happens if I don't hurry?" Um, well, nothing really... just hurry anyway! Or we'll say, "No, you can't have candy right now." And he asks, "What happens if I eat candy right now?" So then we get into a whole discussion about nutrition and how our bodies get energy.

Jack's favorite food is pizza, especially Little Caesar's. He loves to play with his toy kitchen and kick/throw balls. He likes to watch Curious George and Dora the Explorer.

We love our Jack. Happy Birthday!
