Together Again

We were a bit spontaneous last week and ran off to Illinois to visit family. It's hard to throw together a last-minute trip with three little kids, but it worked out very well!

We decided to go on a wagon ride around Nauvoo to see the sites. Unfortunately for us, though, it's Mayfly season. They were everywhere and it was pretty gross. Mayflies are pretty big bugs and they were covering the wagon as we came close to the river.

We went boating again in Iowa and the kids got to play in the water. Callie wishes she was born as a fish. She loves the water!

Grandma Marshall took Jack for a ride in the kayak. He thought it was super cool!

Ryan and Mom hung out in the shade. He basically slept the whole time we were there!

Jack helped Callie cross a field of grass. She gets nervous about pinecones and weeds sometimes. We don't really understand it, but it's kind of funny to see her freeze up and get upset about a pinecone!

We walked around town and visited The Fudge Shop, then went to check out the Nauvoo Temple and the beautiful flowers growing nearby.

We had a barbecue at a nearby park. The weather was really great while we were visiting. We managed to avoid any extreme heat.

It took her a while, but Callie warmed up to the many family members there that week. She loves Grandpa!

These are the cousins that stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Marshall (minus Ryan.) We're missing five grandchildren from the picture.

Here are five out of six Marshall kids. We had a great time visiting everyone and we're really glad we made the trip! Who knows when the next time everyone will be together again. It's hard when everyone is spread out all over the country!
