We had the privilege of visiting during a major heat wave and drought in Washington. Luckily, Grandma thought to get a small pool so the kids could cool off.
The kids also got to experience real fireworks this year, since we usually celebrate the 4th of July in New York where fireworks are not allowed.
We had some day time pyrotechnics, like tanks, parachutes, and smoke bombs!
The kids got into their pajamas and settled in to watch the late-night fireworks from the driveway.
Grandpa even brought out a cot because the kids were getting pretty tired. Between all the traveling and the 3-hour time difference, the kids were not exactly on a normal sleeping schedule.
They loved all the colors and explosions, though. They'll have great memories!
