Fun at the Fair!

We went to the Wayne County Fair today for some fun in the sun! It was quite sunny and HOT.

Jack got his first taste of cotton candy. He thought it was pretty cool, although he doesn't like to get his hands sticky, so he had a hard time eating it. We had to place it in his mouth for him. Apparently it's okay if Mommy and Daddy get sticky hands.

While we were at the fair, we took time to check out the local farm animals. Here is Jack petting a sheep. In the picture, it looks kind of like he is using the back of his hand to pet the sheep, but he is just pulling his fingers back as much as possible so he doesn't have to actually touch the sheep. He's always been quite particular about his hands.

And this is how Callie enjoyed the fair. She was pretty happy strolling around until we went near the roosters. They cock-a-doodle-doo'ed pretty loud and it scared her. After that, she cried every time she heard the rooster and had to be held until we left the fair.

Jack and Dad checking out the goats. Notice how Jack always needs help petting the animals... At least he's not one of those kids that just grabs at everything he sees. He's cautious about new things. (And smelly things, like goats.)

He thought the ducks and geese were pretty cool. He has always liked ducks, though. When he was younger and we took him to the zoo, he quacked at every animal. Now that's he more mature, he's able to distinguish between the different animals. He saw a cow and said, "Moo." Just don't ask him what a rabbit says, though, because he just doesn't know.

OOOOOHHHH...your kids are so cute. I loved the fair as a kid...and truly miss going. Maybe I will take my little ones to the fair here in Utah...we will see.
