Syracuse Zoo

We stayed overnight in a hotel last night and visited the Syracuse Zoo this morning. Sander has to attend three weeks of training for work, which takes place an hour and a half away. He has the choice to drive there and back each day (being compensated for mileage), or stay in a hotel every night- or a little bit of both! Mom and the kids arrived on Friday afternoon. Callie was not feeling well. She had no appetite and was quite cranky! We were a little worried about going to the zoo with this cranky girl, but we forged ahead!

Callie still wasn't feeling well when we got to the zoo, so she just hung out in the stroller with her cuddly blanket. She liked the animals, but was a little too tired to show much enthusiasm.

The lions were hanging out right next to the windows. It was pretty cool to see them so close! Jack saw a lion yawn and laughed at his big teeth!

After spending some time in the fresh air, Callie started feeling a little bit better. She ventured out of the stroller to explore with Jack.

 Ooh! Penguins!

We watched an elephant show, and the kids actually got to touch the elephant's trunk! Jack, of course, was hesitant, but he did it anyway. Those elephants sure are HUGE!

Jack wanted to take the opportunity to "milk a cow." This particular cow only produced water. She must be on a diet!

The kids even got to ride on an elephant. Unfortunately for them, though, this ride wasn't going anywhere!
