Easter Hijinks

We started our Easter celebration by dying Easter eggs on Monday. The kids thought it was pretty cool.

They're wearing matching Elmo shirts. It's hard to find shirts for all three of them, since they have to be "gender-neutral." Maybe next we'll just buy pink flower shirts for all of them. :o)

Dad made the BYU egg. Surprise, surprise.

On Saturday, we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard. Keep in mind that the snow has just barely melted, so the grass looks pretty bad. This was the first day of the entire year that the kids have been able to go outside without freezing. They loved it.

Ryan was super tired and cranky during our hunt, so he wasn't really getting the most out of the experience. But at least he got some fresh air!

Callie wanted to wear her super cool new hair bow, courtesy of Grandma Marshall. She loves her hair clips and clothes (and the boys do, too.) Thanks, Grandma!

This is what Ryan thought of the grass and eggs. He was not in the mood.

On Sunday, Callie wore her flowery yellow dress to church for Easter. She loves wearing dresses and feeling "pretty."

We curled her hair, too. It didn't stay curled for long, but we gave it a try!

After church we had a treasure hunt for their Easter baskets. Ryan was asleep, but Jack and Callie ran all over the house, following clues to find their baskets.

Jack was able to read all of the clues with no help. He amazes us every day with his reading skills!

The kids went everywhere from Mom's closet to the kitchen, to the laundry room!

They finally found their Easter baskets in the bathtub!

"Are you covered in dirt? Do you need a good scrub?
Grab some soap and water and head for the _________!"

The kids were very excited about all the goodies they found in their baskets. They have enough candy to last for the rest of the year!

We also had to mention, of course, that we taught them a FHE lesson the week before about Jesus Christ's resurrection. Jack seems to understand the basic idea. It's very cool to see how Jack comprehends basic Gospel principles in his innocent, child-like way. We, as a family, are grateful for Christ's Atonement in our lives every day.

I like your idea of having clues for the kids to follow to find their Easter baskets. I looks like you had a great Easter. Callie look wonderful in that yellow dress. :)
