Niagara Falls or Bust!

We've been meaning to visit Niagara Falls in Canada for a while, but we just haven't gotten around to it. Until now! We had enough points earned on a hotel rewards card to get a free night at a hotel, so why not! The points were earned from whenever Sander traveled for work. Pictured above is Sander displaying some Canadian money. We're international travelers now!

Here are Callie and Dad checking out the view from the hotel room. We would not normally stay at a hotel with a "Falls View," but it was free! It was really an amazing view. It helped us really see the falls more often in a nice warm environment, since outside was quite chilly!

Here are just a couple of shots from the hotel room again.

From the Canadian side of the falls, we could also see the American side. People say the Canadian side is better, just because there is more to do over here. So far, we'd say it certainly costs a lot to do anything, including eat! (Seriously- $16 for a hamburger at Rainforest Cafe!)

There was a mini-golf area with dinosaurs everywhere! Jack said this T-Rex had big, sharp teeth!

Callie loved to just run around and be free. After a while, though, she got pretty cold and wanted to be held. It really was freezing outside! No wonder this is the "off season."

Here are a few more creepy dinosaurs threatening to eat us. Luckily, we managed to escape unharmed.

And now come a bunch of pictures of us in front of Niagara Falls. It was really beautiful as we walked along the path that follows the falls. We stopped several times to take pictures and enjoy the view. By the time we were done, it started snowing! The poor kids were freezing to death!

A random lady walking by offered to take a picture of all of us. It was very nice of her, but we're blocking the entire view of the falls! Oh well, at least we got a family picture!

We had to put an adult-sized hat on Callie toward the end because her little winter hat wasn't big enough to keep her ears warm. She does have a pretty big head... At least now the kids can say they have been to another country, even if they won't remember it at all!

After eating lunch at a slightly over-priced Wendy's, we rode the "Sky Wheel," which is just a big Ferris Wheel. The baskets are nice and covered, so we stayed warm and dry. The kids really liked being up so high and seeing everything. We happened to be right next to the dinosaur mini-golf place, too, so we watched the dinosaurs from above!

As we reached the top of the ride, the view of the falls was pretty cool. There were so many more things to do in Niagara Falls, but with little kids, it makes it hard to get around! Plus, the cold weather didn't help. We still had a lot of fun, and hopefully we can visit again!
