We hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving this year! (No mishaps with frying a frozen turkey!) Our little family had a relaxing day at home, enjoying spending the whole day together! We started off the day with filling the advent calendars with candy. That's always fun!
Jack has been asking about "days" lately. Like, "Is today Monday?" And we'll try to explain to him about days of the week and such, but he doesn't quite understand. Maybe eating candy each day for a month will help him learn! Actually, we just bought a large "classroom" calendar that has clear plastic pockets for the dates and we'll try to use that to help him learn. He'll still get to eat his Hershey Kisses every day, though!
We also baked and decorated some Christmas-themed sugar cookies, which the kids loved. We managed to get frosting and sprinkles all over the kitchen counters. Then, after nap time, the kids got to talk to Grandma and Grandpa Culwell and Aunt Miriam on the computer. They were very excited! Callie still talks about her Aunt Miriam all the time!
We kept dinner pretty simple, since it was only the four of us. We baked a turkey breast and a few other Thanksgiving basics. For the kids, today was really no different than any other day, but we tried to talk about Thanksgiving with Jack as much as we could. He kept asking if he could "Go to Thanksgiving."
Here's Jack watching Dad carve the turkey.
The kids learned how to stick olives on their fingers while visiting Grandma and Grandpa Culwell. It's important to take advantage of the skill while their fingers are still tiny enough to fit the olives on!
We have so many blessings to be thankful for this year. It has been so amazing to watch our children grow and learn, and we're thankful to have our home and our wonderful family!
