Pie Face and HexBugs

We received a game for Christmas called "Pie Face." The kids had been asking to play it for a while, but we were always conveniently out of whipped cream. It was finally time to bite the bullet, though, and let the kids smash "pie" in their faces!

The game involves using the spinner to decide how many times the player should rotate the handle, not knowing how many clicks it will take to spring the whipped cream into the player's face!

If the player rotates the handle the full number of times, he/she gets the points for that round. If the player gets pie in the face, he/she gets no points! But the player does get to eat whipped cream, so... it's kind of a win anyway.

Ryan only tried the game once, and then he saw everyone else getting pie in their faces and didn't want to do it anymore. Callie was too scared at first, but she eventually gave it a try and had fun. In the end, Jack won the game. But since everyone got to eat whipped cream, we were all winners!

On another day during Spring Break, the kids made a fun containment area for their little Hexbug friends. These little Hexbugs run on batteries and vibrate along the floor, ending up looking like little bugs running all over the place. It's a little creepy, but the kids love them.

If we don't keep them contained, they will run under doorways, under the fridge or stove, or just get stuck under some laundry or something. They're a lot of fun as long as we keep an eye on them!
