The New House!

So here it is, folks. We finally got around to taking some pictures of our new house. Now, keep in mind that these will be considered the "before" pictures, since we have only lived here for a little over a week. It's a mess and there are no pictures on the walls and nothing is particularly organized, but at least there are pictures! This is our house, as per the listing on the internet. I didn't feel like going across the street to take another picture of the outside. We're not sure what we're doing about the sloped front lawn quite yet, but come spring time, we'll have lots of work to do outside!

The following several pictures are of Jack being forced to pose in all the different rooms of the house. He was a good sport about it, though, and didn't seem to mind.

We love having a big covered porch to welcome any visitors! We plan to get some kind of chairs or something (whatever people put on front porches) so we can sit and stare at people as they walk/drive by our house.

Here is a rough draft of our living room. We plan to have the TV and possibly these couches downstairs when all is said and done, but for now, this works. Eventually we'd like to get a piano and some more formal couches for this area. In case you were wondering, that is indeed a fireplace in the corner, though it is just a gas-powered "fake" fireplace. I wish we had a real, wood-burning one. Someday, maybe...

The sink in Jack's bathroom is one of those fancy-shmancy sit-on-top-of-the-counter sinks. It looks okay, but it isn't quite as functional as we would have hoped. The water splashes out quite easily!

Here's Jack's bedroom. It's pretty small, but meets his needs. After the baby is born, he will graduate to a twin bed and we'll move his beloved glider chair to the baby's room. We might get around to painting his room something fun, but this is a lot of house to paint!

And here's the master bedroom. We still have no furniture, but we did get a nice new bedspread from our local Walmart! The master bedroom is plenty big and has a large walk-in closet. We have to add some bars for hanging clothes, though, since right now there are a series of shelves that can technically be used for hanging clothes, but we just don't like how it works.

Returning to the main living area, here is the kitchen. Now we're cookin' with gas! We actually do now own a gas stove, which is new to us. It seems very efficient, though. I'm just worried about starting a fire with all those flames coming out from under the burners!

And off the kitchen is the garage. Boring. Just thought I'd add a picture since we actually have a garage now! It's great for bringing in the groceries straight from the car.

This is a straight shot of the back yard from the deck. Our yard goes as far as the dark green grass. We plan to put up a fence when the weather gets warmer.

Since we have never really had stairs, Jack is still perfecting his ability to get up and down. He'll get it eventually. Especially when all his toys are down here!

This is definitely the first thing to go! Both bedrooms downstairs were used for two little girls. Having two bright pink rooms doesn't really do us any good, so we will be painting these first thing!

Here is Jack pointing to the wall and saying, "Pink!" (That is what he was told to do.)

Here is the unfinished half of the basement. Not terribly pleasant to look at, but that is another project we have in mind. We plan to finish this half and add another full bathroom and laundry room. This will be our TV area so we don't have to have it all upstairs. We're very exciting about our upcoming adventure with construction!

When we first moved in, we realized the washer/dryer hookups were for a gas dryer, which we did not own. We ran out to the hardware stores and appliance stores on Black Friday (yuck) and bought a new set right away. Anyone interested in our old set? We'll be listing them for sale on craigslist shortly!

After coming down the stairs to the basement, you turn the corner to find the sliding glass doors. We really like having the option to get to the backyard from the basement. We know the kids will love running out there to play when it gets warmer! (And the new baby gets a little older, of course!)
