Free Callie!

Public schools will be out for the summer soon, so we are trying to head out to the Museum of Play more often lately. We'll still go occasionally in the summer time, but it will be more crowded, and therefore, not as much fun for the kids!

This was the first time we had gone in the "sand" box when Jack was wearing his sandals. He found that the little pellets felt weird on his feet and he was not interested in playing in the box at all. He tried to get me to leave, but I told him we had to stay to let Callie play. His compromise was playing with the toys while avoiding getting in the box at all costs...

Callie, on the other hand, was very happy to settle right into the little plastic pellets and collected quite a few in her shoes! She was just happy to be free to wander about the museum. I usually leave her in the backpack since it is hard enough chasing after one toddler, but today we gave it a trial run with two free-roaming kids. It actually worked out pretty well.

We made Jack a "magic wand" in the Sword and the Stone exhibit. He was running around saying, "Ding!" and touching everything with it.

Here are the kids playing giant-sized board games. Jack tried to get me to play chess with him, but I have no idea how to play. I told him to move the pieces around, taking turns between the white and the black! (Callie decided to add the "Connect Four" pieces into the game...)

Jack asked me to take a picture of "two kids." They are so very cute when they laugh at each other for no reason. We, as parents, don't understand what is so funny, but they just crack up when one of them gives the other a poke or a funny look.

We, of course, made another crown for Jack. He had his wand and crown- he looked just like a king! Or, maybe a small prince. Being royalty doesn't stop him from having fun, though. Here he is trying out a jumping game. It's basically like jumping rope, but with no rope...

Here is Callie enjoying an afternoon snack. She did, indeed, eat the entire broccoli crown that was as big as her face! It was delicious!

We did get around to eating actual food for lunch. Although, this applesauce in a squeeze pouch seems a little strange to be called real food. I just picked it up at the store for times when I did not feel like packing more than necessary. Perhaps all foods should be pureed and served in squeezable pouches. We would never need utensils again!

Callie was very excited to finally be able to ride her own horse on the carousel at the end of the day. It makes for difficult picture-taking, but she had lots of fun!

This was the best I could do, since I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of while still holding on to Callie to make sure she didn't topple off of her horse!
