Welcome 2011!

Here are the first pictures of 2011, taken on New Year's Day! We didn't really do anything to celebrate, but we enjoyed a relaxing day at home, which is always good. As you can see, Callie enjoys Santa as much as Jack did when he was little!

Callie loves to give cheesy smiles and laughs all the time. She's a very happy little girl. She did, however, have to get a shot at her last check up, which made her temporarily sad.

We took her in to the doctor for her 9-month checkup (even though she is nearly 10 months old), and she seems to be in great health!

She's 29.5 inches tall (the 93th percentile),

She weighs 22 pounds (the 88th percentile),

Head Circumference was 47.5cm (the 100th percentile!)

Looking back, Jack and Callie are were almost the exact same size at their 9-ish month check ups! They are such cuties when they play together. Jack is getting a little more possessive lately as he is learning to assert himself, and Callie is learning to grab things out of his hand! We're working on making sure they are getting along well.

Callie is such a joy to have in our home. We love this little girl! She's currently working on gaining better balance. She can walk along furniture with ease, but is still pretty wobbly without that support. She's a speedy crawler and has just learned to open cupboards. It looks like we'll have to get some child-proofing supplies! She has crawled up a few stairs already and loves to explore wherever she can. She especially loves bath time.

Jack is becoming more aware of everything that is going on around him. He picks up random phrases from the TV or conversations he hears. He also loves to watch the traffic lights turn from green to yellow to red. He'll say, "Red means stop!" Then wait for the green light and say, "Green means go!" (Talk about a back-seat driver...) He is a very sweet little boy and will often try his best to help Callie if she gets upset. Sometimes he even offers her his precious white blanket to help her stop crying. He is speaking so well now and can piece together long sentences with no problems. We love to hear what he comes up with. It can be pretty amusing sometimes!
