Mooseum of Pway

We took yet another trip to the Museum of Play today. Jack just can't get enough of that place. And every time we go, we find something we haven't seen yet!

Upstairs, they had a video game exhibit. Jack loves to push buttons, so he was all over that. He was a little intimidated, though, by all the blinking lights and the huge number of machines to explore.

This was a huge mat that reacts to the pressure from people walking and stomping on it. When you push the "play" button on the wall, the mat sends out ripples of colored lights wherever you step. It was pretty cool. Jack ran back and forth across the mat several times.

This board was similar to the "Lite Brite" toys of old. Once you put the little colored cylinders of plastic in the slots, they light up. Jack was trying to write, "I love mommy," but he ran out of room.

And here is Jack posing in a Lincoln Log cabin. He was a little disappointed to find that it had no back wall or ceiling, but it was still fun to play in.

Jack kept trying to pick up this giant glove, but he said it was, "Too heavy!"

This is the "Giant's playroom." What is it about small buildings that creates the irresistible urge to run into them?

Jack was running in and out of the little room, saying, "Now I'm in the room. And now I'm out of the room! And now I'm in the room!"

And what visit is complete without playing a game of Giant Connect Four? Jack couldn't even reach the top to drop his pieces in. Needless to say- he lost the game by default.

This harp has no strings, but can still be played. It had some sort of light setup that reacted to a person's hand running through the lights. Jack wasn't terribly impressed. Some of the things at the museum are much more interesting to the adults simply because they are hard to figure out. Kids Jack's age just take things at face value and don't always wonder about how they work. "Huh, so I stick my hand in the empty harp and it creates music. Moving on..."

Last, but not least, is the carousel ride. It's a must at the end of the day. Callie tried the whole time to grab at the moving horse next to her, but to no avail. She'll be old enough to ride them herself someday. She did wave goodbye to the horses as we walked to the car, ready for a nice nap at home!
