Heat wave! (and llamas)

Every Thursday, we go to this little preschool class at a local farm. The class lasts for 26 weeks, and each week they cover a different letter of the alphabet as it pertains to a farm. This week was "L" for llamas! While Jack was busy gluing yarn to his page, Callie was working on her own picture (her's is on the left). She actually did quite a good job coloring with absolutely no help from anyone else. Maybe she will be an artist when she grows up!

We left the farm pretty quickly because it is extremely hot outside. We've been going through a major heat wave this week and it's supposed to just keep on coming through the weekend. It's not pleasant.

To beat the heat, we set up the inflatable pool we got last year. Jack and Callie both got in the pool, then they both slipped, then both wanted out immediately. So that didn't work out quite as expected! We got out the mini-pool instead and that made them happy.

Callie loved the water. She still hasn't been in a "real" pool, and we figure she will love it when she finally gets the chance! After this picture, the camera started getting fogged up from the heat/humidity. (Yeah, it's gross).

After wiping down the lens, these pictures turned out a little brighter. The kids still played in the bigger pool, but it was mostly by dropping various toys into it and then trying to fish them out without falling in!

You can see in the background just how bad the grass is getting. The lack of rain and extreme heat have not been forgiving on everyone's lawns. The only people with somewhat green grass are the ones with huge trees covering their whole yards. I guess we'll try dumping out the pools onto the lawn to help it out!

such fun. I remember the days. They look very cooled off.
We are having the same very hot weather and it is not fun.

I heard from some of my family members about the extreme heat out there in the East. It sounded pretty miserable! Thank goodness for AC!
